Remember: To bring a sense of fun :-) To pack a bag you can carry To arrive on time To be respectful To write your thoughts in your notebook Dear Grade 5 Parents, Just a few reminders for your much anticipated camp! Please remember to review the kit list and encourage your child to label all items with their name and to pack their own backpacks. - Students are asked not to bring any food items on the camp trip (all food will be provided) - Label any medication with your child's name, and explicit instructions on how it is to be administered (please also send an email to the teachers so they know to ask for the medication) - Drop off time on Tuesday morning is at 7:45am. Do not send your child on their usual school bus, they will not get here on time. The camp bus will leave at exactly 8:00am, no exceptions. (campers are taking a bus and then a hired junk to the island and are on a tight schedule to meet the junk and to clear the parking lot for the regular HKA school day) - All parents are asked to pick up their children on Friday, October 8th, promptly at 3:00 pm (they will be very excited at the thought of seeing you) Please note no parking will be available on campus. Hourly Octopus parking is available at 29 Ka Wai Man Rd - Labeling everything with their name really helps in the camp pack up aftermath I am wishing all of you a great camp. I am going out with the G4 camp, so I will see you off on Tuesday, but I will not return until 5:00 pm on Friday with G4 camp. Get ready for 4 days full of excitement! Best, Virginia Hunt Primary School Principal Hong Kong Academy 12 Ka Wai Man Road, Kennedy Town. Well done to Sydney and David for posting their goals and fears. You can comment on them using the VoiceThreads below. Today we had a full house at our APA camp meeting. Many parents joined us to find out more about the exciting activities that will be taking place next week at Tung Lung. The packing list is available here. Remember that you should be able to carry your bag and no snacks, there will be plenty of food at the camp.
What is a goal that you have for camp? What is a fear that you have about camp? Create a VoiceThread and share them with the class. Visit other peoples camp VoiceThreads and give them support, ideas and encouragement. Have a good day off tomorrow for National Day! You may have all noticed that I have been out of class for three days this week. I have been very fortunate to have been invited by the International Baccalaureate Organization to develop a document relating to ICT in the PYP. It is an honour to have been selected to help develop this document, something that may be used by every IB PYP school in the world. It is a very tiring but rewarding process and I look forward to bringing new ideas to 5AB and HKA. Camp
This Thursday we have a camp presentation by APA from 10:20 in 5AB. All parents are welcome to come along and find out more details about the grade 5 camp which takes place next week. A Letter from Virginia:
Dear Grade 5 Students and Parents, I am writing to share planning for the Grade 5 student camp this year. Camp will be held from Tuesday, October 5th to Friday, October 8th. Based on our very successful camp experiences over the past few years, we once again have made arrangements with Asia Pacific Adventures (APA) to manage the Grade 5 outing. APA consultants and our Grade 5 team have planned a 4-day, 3-night adventure camp on Tung Lung Island. Students will build upon last year's team-building, leadership, nature study and outdoor adventure skills. Camp days are considered school days and an integral part of the curriculum and I sincerely hope that all students will be in attendance. If there are any questions, concerns or barriers to your child's participation, please speak with me directly. Students will attend an information briefing session on Thursday, September 30th from 10:20 to 11:05 a.m. in Room 201 (5AB). Parents are invited and encouraged to join us. Additional information about cost and enrollment forms (as required by APA) for each student will follow shortly. Please see the attached list of items to be packed for your camping adventure! I look forward to seeing you on September 30th. Sincerely, Virginia Hunt |
